SUBJECT: Extension For 404—MHz Wind Profilers
                                 (October 1, 1995 through September 30, 1996)

—NTIA, after consultation with Federal Government agencies, concurs with the
request to allow wind profiler experimental operations to continue in the frequency
band 401.15—406 MHz for the period beginning October 1, 1995, and ending
September 30, 1996. This one—year extension is to allow additional time to evaluate
the results of previous measurements that could assist in changing the existing
operational constraints currently being used by 404—MHz wind profilers (see
Attachment). The results of this evaluation will be reviewed at subsequent meetings
of the 404—MHz working group, chaired by Gary Patrick/NTIA, and should provide the
basis for developing long—term procedures that will allow 404—MHz wind profilers to
continue to operate beyond September 30, 1996.
