Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of 9410 MHz for a temporary weather radar and 412.7875 MHz for a data link from the radar site to the event location. The purpose is to provide logistics support for the US Open Tennis Tournament and related activities for the period of August 14 through September 10, 2018 (including setup and take down). The event will be held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing, NY. The radar will be located on the rooftop of the Red Carpet Inn 980 Wyckoff Avenue Brooklyn, NY (see attachment for additional details). Broad Comm provides radio frequency support services to various entities at major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for numerous previous events. Although the actual event will not start until August 28, 2017 the request for early authorization is due to the significant lead time required to procedure, install and test the equipment.
