Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This STA application replicates the authority granted under WI9XKH, File No. 0322-EX-ST-2015, which expired on May 1, 2015 and WI9XZL, File No. 0923-EX-ST-2015 which expired on October 10, 2015. The authority will support demonstrating operations of AeroVironment’s small unmanned aircraft (SUAS) technology at Edwards Air Force Base, California for an additional 45 day period Use of frequency 1377.5 will provide insight as to the operational performance of the SUAS video and telemetry transmission for particular operations. Operations will occur only intermittently, the timing of which will be coordinated with Edwards AFB Spectrum Management and Edwards AFB Operational Units. AeroVironment will also coordinate with the Western Area Frequency Coordinator (WAFC) prior to any operations to mitigate harmful interference to Navy and Marine Corps assignments. It will comply with restrictions that may be imposed by WAFC. AeroVironment will also coordinate operations with the Owens Valley Radio Observatory. The SUAS will operate only in restricted air space Further details of the experiment are provided in the attachment

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  AeroVironment SUAS technology provides real-time direct situational awareness. The systems communications platform features air vehicles (AVs), a ground control unit and support equipment. The AV can be controlled manually or can autonomously navigate a pre-planned route. The frequency at 1377.5 MHz will be for purposes of supporting video and telemetry transmission and command and control data from the AV.
