Nature of Service:    Direct Broadcast Satellite Service


On August 19, 2005, the Satellite Division, Engineering Branch, granted with conditions DIRECTV Enterprises, L.L.C.'s
("DIRECTV's") application for Special Temporary Authority, File No. SAT-STA-20050624-00136. Accordingly, DIRECTV is
authorized, for the period from August 26, 2005 to October 10, 2005, to drift its DIRECTV 8 satellite (Call Sign S2632) from 100.65°
W.L. to 138° W.L, to conduct in-orbit-testing of the DIRECTV 8 satellite DBS payload in the 17.3 - 17.8 GHz (Earth-to-space), and
12.2 - 12.7 GHz (space-to-Earth) frequency bands at the 138.0° W.L. orbital location and upon completion of the test to return the
DIRECTV 8 satellite to its assigned orbital location of 100.65° W.L DIRECTV has two pending applications,
SAT-MOD-20050513-00100 and SAT-MOD-20050513-00101, to modify the authorized orbital location of DIRECTV-8 satellite to
100.75° W.L. Comments have been received on these applications. Accordingly, grant of SAT-STA-20050624-00136 is without
prejudice to our review of SAT-MOD-20050513-00100 and SAT-MOD-20050513-00101.
