DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC has filed an application for Special Temporary Authority for a period beginning August 26, 3005 through October 10, 2005. Specifically, DIRECTV seeks authority to drift the DIRECTV 8 satellite from 101º W.L. to 138º W.L., conduct in-orbit testing of the Direct Broadcast Satellite communications payload at that location and to migrate back to 101º W.L. DIRECTV has made arrangements to conduct the in-orbit test using the Canadian BSS orbital location at 138º W.L. for approximately two weeks in September.
