SAT-MOD-20030205-00032 P DBS8402 DIRECTV, Inc.
Modification

DIRECTV, Inc. has filed an application for modification of its relevant Direct Broadcast Satellite system authorizations to reflect the
relocation of the DIRECTV 3 satellite into a storage orbit. DIRECTV is authorized to provide DBS service from 32 DBS channels at
101° W.L., 3 DBS Channels at 110° W.L., and 11 DBS Channels at 119° W.L. The DIRECTV 3 satellite was clustered with several
other DIRECTV satellites at the 101° W.L. orbital location. Pursuant to special temporary authority, after a failure of its satellite
control processor, the DIRECTV 3 satellite was relocated from 101° W.L. and moved to a storage orbit 308 kilometers above the
geostationary orbit. Adjustments were made to the positions of certain other DIRECTV satellites collocated at 101° W.L. to ensure
continuity of service the DIRECTV's DBS subscribers. DIRECTV seeks to formally modify its relevant system authorizations to
reflect these changes.
