                                            Satellite Applications Accepted for Filing

The applications listed below have been found, upon initial review, to be acceptable for filing. The Commission reserves
the right to return any of the applications if, upon further examination, it is determined the application is not in
conformance with the Commission's rules or its policies. Petitions, oppositions and other pleadings filed in response to
this notice should conform to Section 25.154 of the Commission's rules, unless otherwise noted. 47 C.F.R. § 25.154.




SAT-MOD-19980928-00078              CS91004        PANAMSAT LICENSEE CORP.
Modification
On September 28, 1998, PanAmSat Licensee Corporation filed an application to amend its then-pending application for the PAS-5
satellite, File No. CSS-91-004. The Commission adopted an Order granting the pending application on October 2, 1998 (see
PanAmSat Licensee Corporation, DA 98-2005 (released October 5, 1998)). Therefore, the application to amend will be considered as
an application to modify that authorization.

In the instant application, PanAmSat seeks authority to modify the PAS-5 satellite authorization to substitute frequencies in the 12.25
-12.5 GHz band for the frequencies that PanAmSat had initially proposed in the 11.45-11.7 GHz band and to reconfigure the Ku-band
downlink beams to include coverage, at very low EIRPs, of the west coast of the United States and Hawaii.



SAT-MOD-19981021-00077              T-403          Loral Spacecom Corp.
Modification
Loral SpaceCom Corporation has filed an application for modification of its authorization for the Telstar 6 satellite. Loral SpaceCom
is requesting an extension of the launch milestones for Telstar 6 satellite to June 30, 1999.



SAT-MOD-19981023-00073              SAT C-1        GE AMERICAN COMMUNICATIONS, INC.
Modification
GE American Communications, Inc. has filed an application for modification of the Satcom C-1 satellite to permit the spacecraft to be
relocated from 137 degrees W.L. to 79 degrees W.L. upon the launch of a new C-band only spacecraft into the 137 degree W.L.
location.

GE American Communications, Inc. has filed an application for modification of the GE-5 satellite to permit the C-band payload for
the authorized satellite to be located at 137 degrees and to permit certain technical changes. GE Americom intends to rename this
satellite GE-7

Modification
GE American Communications, Inc. has filed an application for modification of the authorization for SN-4 to permit the spacecraft to
be relocated from 101 degrees W.L. to 72 degrees W.L. upon the launch of a new hybrid satellite into the 101 degree W.L. location.
GE requests that this application and the concurrently filed application for the GE-3 satellite (to be known as GE-4) be processed
together (File No. SAT-MOD-19981023-00076).

Modification
GE American Communications, Inc. has filed an application for modification of the authorization for its GE-3 satellite to permit the
spacecraft to be relocated from 72 degrees W.L. to 101 degrees W.L. and to permit certain technical changes. GE also proposes to
rename the spacecraft GE-4. GE requests that this application and the concurrently filed application for the Satcom SN-4 satellite be
processed together (File No. SAT-MOD-19981023-00075).

Special Temporary Authority
PanAmSat has filed a request for special temporary authority to operate its PAS-5 satellite on a nonconforming use basis; to substitute
frequencies in the 12.25 -12.5 GHz band for the frequencies that PanAmSat had initially proposed in the 11.45-11.7 GHz band; and to
reconfigure the Ku-band downlink beams to include coverage, at very low EIRPs, of the west coast of the United States and Hawaii.

COMMENTS on this application may be filed on or before November 23, 1998. REPLIES may be filed on or before December 1,
1998.
