Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation

Please explain the purpose of operation:

The test consists of one single test pulse on Mode 2 and does not interrogate the Full Mode 2 code. The BIT Transmission cannot be performed under a hood or direct connect, as the test is performed to ensure performance of the transmitting equipment and accurate transmission data needs to be collected, although the tests can be performed entirely in a Boeing Hangar to reduce any potential of interference.
