Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Harris Corporation (Harris) respectfully seeks approval of its proposed Special Temporary Authority (STA) license to operate in the 700 MHz band public safety spectrum, using the 763-768 MHz for uplink and 793-798 MHz for downlink, to demonstrate public safety grade Long Term Evolution (?LTE?) equipment in Washington, DC, between October 1, 2012 and November 12, 2012.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Program of Research and Project Objectives: If granted, the STA license will be used to create a demonstration of an interoperable LTE public safety wireless broadband network (PSWBN), operated by Harris. Installed Station and associated mobile units will be used for demonstration purposes only, with operations confined to within the building in which installed. Radiation of all equipment will be limited to 1 mile. Limited Use of Equipment Exclusively for Testing Purposes: This network will not be used in mission-critical operations or in the delivery of live transmissions in duties to protect life, property, or safety. The equipment will include a temporary base station and associated antenna located at the named demonstration site, along with a small number of portable units all operating at no more than 1 mile from the base site for testing purposes only. Operation will occur between October 1 and October 19, 2012, allowing time during that period for setup and testing, demonstrations, and teardown. Absence of Interference Concerns: Information from the FCC?s ULS databases has been analyzed and it is determined that the proposed operation would not interfere or create a significant potential for interference with any public safety operations in the 700 MHz band. There were no active public safety licenses granted in the Washington, D.C. area on frequencies that are co-channel to those proposed in this request.
