Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Broadcast Sports, Incorporated is a video production company, and is a licensee in the Local Television Transmission Service (LTTS). LTTS microwave channels used for video production in the 2 GHz range are shared with Broadcast Auxiliary Service (BAS) licensees. The local frequency coordinator in the northern California television markets has informed Broadcast Sports, Inc. that BAS/LTTS channels around 2 GHz are not available for video production during this event. Broadcast Sports, Inc. requires several channels for video production, because separate 2 GHz transmitters are used in the race cars, which transmit video to a helicopter and then relayed to a production truck for satellite uplink. Because normal LTTS channels are unavailable for this event, substitute channels are needed by STA. The substitute channels sought are available to ITFS licensees and are proposed to be used following advance coordination with local licensees. In addition, there are not enough low power auxiliary channels available to coordinate video production activities in connection with the Indy Racing League automobile race at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California during the period August 23 through August 26, 2007. The STA is necessary to enable the applicant to use low power voice portable transceivers on a T-band channel, in lieu of normal low power Broadcast Auxiliary channels for which the applicant is licensed, and as well to use additional LP Aux channels for which the applicant is not currently licensed. The local Northern California Frequency Coordination Committee database administrator advised that the additional requested BAS channels are available for this event at these locations. Hence, the short term use of these channels is necessary.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Video Production of automobile racing at the Infineon Raceway, near Sonoma, California for network broadcast, satellite broadcast and cablecast. The ITFS channels will permit video transmission to production vehicles from the race cars. The low power voice channels using 25 and 12.5 kHz channel bandwidths inside the race course areas will permit the applicant to use portable radios to coordinate and conduct normal video production activities on behalf of broadcast and cable networks.
