Message:

We operate a microwave network that provides backhaul for many of our 800 MHz ATG ground stations.
The microwave network almost exclusively uses DragonWave Quantum microwave radios.

We do not have access to 14GHz microwave radios and DragonWave does not make radios in the
14GHz band. They do, however, make radios within the 15GHz band and the bottom end of that band
(channel 1 – 14.417 GHz) gets us within the 14 – 14.5GHz band. We are requesting the
14.907 GHz channel so that we can conduct two-way transmissions between the requested ground sites
( Pagosa Springs, CO – Creede, CO), instead of the need to conduct one-way transmissions
between two sets of ground sites.

We chose to go with 15GHz radios because we can easily obtain and deploy them, and by using
DragonWave radios, we minimize the learning curve as we have no additional challenges with
configuring monitoring. Our analysis is simply to monitor RSL over 30-50 miles in 14GHz.
