and Authorizations, WT Docket No. 07—274

  Dear Ms. Dortch:

General Communication, Inc. ("GCI") and United Companies, Inc. ("UCI") (together, the
"Applicants"), respectfully request a waiver of Section 25.119(f) of the Commission‘s rules and
an extension of time in which to consummate the assignment of UCI‘s interest in 42 earth station
  authorizations to GCI.

The Commission granted consent to the above—referenced transfer of control application on
February 28, 2008, and public notice of grant was issued on March 5, 2008. Public Notice, Rep.
No. SES—01013 (rel. Mar. 5, 2008). The Applicants are awaiting Commission approval of
related transfer applications‘ arising from their consolidated application to transfer control of
licenses and authorizations held by UCI‘s subsidiaries, and will close their transaction promptly
upon Commission approval of the remaining applications. Because the Commission has not yet
approved these applications, however, it appears Applicants will not be able to close the
transaction within 60 days of the date of public notice of grant, i.e., by May 4, 2008. Therefore,
the Applicants respectfully request that the Commission extend its consent in the above—
referenced proceeding until 30 days after approval of the remaining applications.

‘ See General Communication, Inc. and United Companies, Inc. Seek FCC Consent to Transfer Control ofLicenses
and Authorizations, Public Notice, WT Docket No. 07—274 (rel. Dec. 6, 2007).
