Washington, D.C. 20554 Re: Request for Extension of Special Temporary Authority Castle Rock, Colorado Station E030096 Dear Ms. Dortch: Intelsat License LLC (“Intelsat”) herein requests an additional 30 days of Special Temporary Authority (“STA”)1 previously granted to Intelsat2 to use its Castle Rock, Colorado Ku-band earth station (Call Sign E030096) to provide telemetry, tracking, and command (“TT&C”) services for Galaxy 11 (Call Sign S2253) during its drift from 44.9° E.L. to 93.1° W.L. and while on station at 93.1° W.L.3 Galaxy 11 is expected to arrive on-station no earlier than July 24, 2019. Intelsat intends to file for a license modification to add Galaxy 11 as a point of communication at 93.1° W.L. The Galaxy 11 TT&C operations will continue to be performed in the following frequencies: 14000.5 MHz and 14498.5 MHz in the uplink; and 11701.0 MHz and 11702.0 MHz in the downlink. In the extremely unlikely event that harmful interference should occur due to transmissions to or from its earth station, Intelsat will take all reasonable steps to eliminate the interference. The proposed TT&C operations at 93.1° W.L. will be consistent with Intelsat’s coordination agreements for the nominal 93° W.L. orbital location. In the unlikely event that harmful interference occurs, Intelsat will take all necessary steps to eliminate the interference. Grant of this STA extension request will allow Intelsat to complete its drift of Galaxy 11 to, and safely station-keep the satellite at its new location. This, in turn, will allow Intelsat to provide service at the 93.1° W.L. orbital location and thereby promotes the public interest.
