Re: Request for Extension of Special Temporary Authority to Operate a New Remote VSAT
Terminal with Intelsat’s Ellenwood, Georgia VSAT Hub, Call Sign E050169

Dear Ms. Dortch:

Intelsat License LLC (“Intelsat”) herein requests an additional 30 days of Special Temporary
Authority (“STA”)1 previously granted to Intelsat to temporarily operate a new Ku-band remote
VSAT terminal with Intelsat’s Ellenwood, Georgia VSAT hub (call sign E050169)2 in order to
communicate with Intelsat satellites on the Federal Communication Commission’s (“Commission”)
Permitted List for a customer demonstration. The VSAT terminal is located in Liberty, Washington
and the proposed demonstration is expected to take an additional 60 days.

The demonstration will continue to be performed in the following frequency bands: 14346.5-14358.0
MHz in the uplink; and 12046.5-12058.0 MHz in the downlink. The proposed operations will be
consistent with Intelsat’s coordination agreements. The 24x7 contact information for the operations
are as follows:

Request to speak with Harry Burnham or Kevin Bell.

In further support of this request, Intelsat incorporates by reference Exhibit A of the original STA
request,3 a Radiation Hazard Report. In the extremely unlikely event that harmful interference should
occur due to transmissions to or from its remote terminal, Intelsat will take all reasonable steps to
eliminate the interference.

The continued temporary operation of a new remote VSAT terminal will help demonstrate services to
a potential customer. Accordingly, grant of this STA extension request is in the public interest.

For the reasons set forth herein, Intelsat respectfully requests that the Commission grant this STA
extension request. Please direct any questions regarding this request to (703) 559-6949.

Sincerely,
