EXHIBIT 1 REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC (“DIRECTV”) respectfully requests an extension of its grant of special temporary authority (“STA”) for an additional 60 days to add new satellite points of communication to DIRECTV’s Los Angeles, California earth station authorization (Call Sign E090068) while its underlying modification application to permanently add these satellite points of communication to the existing authorization1 remains pending. Pursuant to Section 1.62 of the Commission’s rules,2 DIRECTV will continue to operate pursuant to the terms and conditions of its existing STA3 pending action on this timely filed renewal request. DIRECTV respectfully requests an extension of its current grant of STA for an additional 60 days while its underlying earth station modification application remains pending. Grant of this STA request is in the public interest because it will facilitate communications with DIRECTV’s T15 and T16 satellites. This, in turn, will extend coverage, improve service performance, and provide additional capacity to customers, thereby promoting the public interest. Accordingly, DIRECTV respectfully requests that the Commission grant this request. 2
