                                   EXHIBIT 1
                   REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY

DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC (“DIRECTV”) respectfully requests an extension of its grant

of earth station special temporary authority (“STA”)1 for an additional 30 days to operate its Los

Angeles, California earth station (Call Sign E980285) to drift DIRECTV’s recently launched

T16 satellite (Call Sign S3039) from its in-orbit testing (“IOT”) location of 134.75° W.L. to its

permanent authorized orbital location of 100.85° W.L. Pursuant to Section 1.62 of the

Commission’s rules,2 DIRECTV will continue to operate pursuant to the terms and conditions of

its existing STA pending action on this timely filed renewal request.

On June 28, 2019, the Commission granted DIRECTV’s 30-day STA request to operate

its Los Angeles, California earth station (Call Sign E980285) to support IOT of T16 at 134.75°

W.L. and during T16’s drift to its permanent authorized orbital location of 100.85° W.L.3 The

IOT period commenced on July 1, 20194 and was completed on July 22, 2019. The drift to

100.85° W.L. commenced on July 23, 2019 and is expected to be completed on or about

September 4, 2019. Accordingly, DIRECTV respectfully requests an extension of its current

STA for an additional 30 days to continue supporting T16 during the drift period.5

The range of earth station frequencies requested to support T16 during the drift are the

following:

The 24/7 emergency contact information is as follows: Steve Dulac at (310) 429-1624.

Grant of this earth station STA request is in the public interest because it will facilitate
