Statement in Support of Application for Special Temporary Authority Pursuant to Section 25.120(b) of the Rules, Applicant WXTV License Partnership, G.P. (“WXTV”) respectfully requests Special Temporary Authority (STA) to permit the continued operation of Domestic Satellite Temporary Fixed Transmit-Only Earth Station E030084 (the “Station”) in the same manner as previously authorized (File No. SES-LIC-20030416-00492), for a period of 180 days or pending completion of processing of its reinstatement/renewal application, whichever is sooner. Due to inadvertent oversight, a renewal application was not prepared and submitted prior to the May 29, 2019 expiration date. Promptly on discovery that this filing deadline had been overlooked, a reinstatement/renewal application (with petition for reinstatement) was prepared and is being submitted today under separate cover, during the 30-day grace period pursuant to Section 25.163 of the Rules. The E030084 earth station uplink (utilizing one 1.2 meter AvL Technologies antenna) transmits news and programming from remote locations, which is essential to WXTV’s viewers. Continued operation of E030084 pending processing of the reinstatement/renewal application will serve the public interest by avoiding disruptive interruption of service to WXTV viewers who rely on the news and information and entertainment programming.
