(“HPT”) filed the above- captioned request for a 30-day extension of its special temporary authorization (“STA”) to operate a 9.2m fixed gateway earth station at its facility in Kapolei, Hawaii in the 29.1- 29.15 GHz band (Earth-to-space) to communicate with the EUTELSAT 172B satellite at 172° E.L.1 Iridium Constellation LLC (“Iridium”) has no objection to HPT’s STA extension request. Iridium is filing these comments to emphasize, as it did with HPT’s initial STA request, that its concurrence is based on unique circumstances, including HPT’s urgent need for access to the 29.1-29.15 GHz band over a short period ending on February 15, 2018; discussions between HPT and Iridium as to the nature of the need; the dates covered by HPT’s request; and Iridium’s assessment of its operations during that period. Iridium’s concurrence should not be viewed as a precedent for future 1 SES-STA-20171212-01331 (granted with conditions on December 18, 2017).
