Request for STA This application seeks Special Temporary Authority to operate a new satellite news gathering (SNG), Domestic Satellite Temporary Fixed (Transportable) Earth Station that will be used in conjunction with commercial TV Station KBMT, Beaumont, Texas. There is currently a Warning for Hurricane Harvey in the area. At the time the Warning was issued, the station took possession of the truck and its engineering consultants are in the process of preparing full technical information for an application to license the station’s newly-acquired SNG facilities, to be filed in the ordinary course in the coming weeks. The weather emergency, however, has created an urgent need for the SNG facility to be put into use prior to the completion of the license application. Accordingly, immediate grant of the requested STA would serve the public interest by enhancing the station’s coverage of the weather emergency for the people of Beaumont and the surrounding area.
