Washington, D.C. 20554 Re: Request for Extension of Special Temporary Authority Hagerstown, Maryland Earth Station KA258 Dear Ms. Dortch: Intelsat License LLC ("Intelsat") herein requests an additional 30 days of the Special Temporary Authority ("STA")‘ previously granted Intelsat to use its Hagerstown, Maryland Ku—band earth station—call sign KA258—to provide in—orbit testing ("IOT") services at 33.0° W.L.‘ Intelsat 35e was launched on July 5, 2017. The IOT is expected to last approximately 45 days. The Intelsat 35¢e operations will continue to be performed using the following frequencies: 1 1.7—12.5 and 14.0—14.5 GHz. The proposed operations will continue to be coordinated with all operators of satellites that are potentially affected by these operations at the IOT location." All operators of potentially affected satellites will be provided with an emergency phone number where the licensee can be reached in the event that harmful interference occurs. Grant of this STA extension request will allow Intelsat to continue in—orbit testing of the Intelsat 35e satellite. This, in turn, will help provide additional capacity to customers at the 34.5° W.L. orbital location and thereby promotes the public interest.
