STA Request SES Americom, Inc. (“SES”) respectfully requests an extension of its special temporary authority (“STA”) (granted under File No. SES-STA-20170412-00397) for an additional 60 days to continue operating the Ku-band earth station (E170090) described in file number SES-LIC- 20170407-00375 prior to action on that application. The antenna is currently being used to provide TT&C and communications service for SES-10, which is located at 66.9° W.L. The original STA expired on July 11, 2017, and due to an oversight a request to extend the authority was not timely filed. SES regrets this oversight and seeks to obtain additional STA to continue operating the earth station while the underlying application is pending. The earth station operations are critical for the safe operation of SES-10 and therefore it is in the public interest to extend the STA until action is taken on the underlying application.
