WGBH Educational Foundation Public Interest Statement for Extension of SAT-STA-20160113-00041 This application seeks an extension of Special Temporary Authority (see FCC File number SAT- STA-20160113-00041), which was granted by the International Bureau (“IB”) staff on January 21, 2016 for a 60-day period to operate a fixed satellite Earth Station that is used in conjunction with non-commercial TV Station WGBH-TV, Boston, Massachusetts. The underlying application filed on January 13, 2016 and amended on January 18, 2016 (see assigned call sign E160008 and FCC file number SAT-LIC-20160113-00040) is still under IB staff review, and the application has yet to appear on 30-day public notice. A grant of extension to the requested STA would serve the public interest by continuing to allow station to provide vital coverage of news and entertainment to its nationwide audience on the PBS public television network.
