REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY Telesat Network Services, Inc. (“Telesat”), pursuant to Section 25.120 of the Commission’s rules, hereby respectfully requests extension of its Special Temporary Authority (“STA”) to continue the operation of a fixed 9.0-m antenna (Call Sign E030029) at its Mt. Jackson, VA teleport in the manner described in its initial request. 1 Telesat requests herein that its STA be extended for an additional 60 days – that is, until April 12, 2016 – while processing of its underlying modification application is completed. 2 As stated in its initial request, the subject antenna utilizes the extended Ku-band portion to transmit to three wide-area satellite beams, covering Pan-America, Africa, and Europe. The traffic being sent includes video and data services that have been transitioned from the conventional Ku-band on Telstar 12, which is being retired, to the extended Ku-band on Telstar 12V. The T12V satellite was successfully launched on November 24, 2015. The Commission has authorized Skynet Satellite Corporation, a Telesat affiliate, to operate the Telstar 12V satellite at 15°W.L. 3 Grant of this extension request will continue to serve the public interest, convenience, and necessity by allowing Telesat to provide critical support to its newly launched satellite. Accordingly, and for good cause shown, Telesat respectfully requests that its STA extension request be granted. 1 FCC File No. SES-STA-20151130-00878 (granted Dec. 8, 2015). 2 Telesat submitted its modification application on July 1, 2015. See FCC File No. SES-MOD-20150701- 00437. That application appeared on Public Notice as accepted for filing on August 5, 2015. Telesat subsequently amended its application to address adjustments to the technical details of its modification. See FCC File Nos.
