EchoStar Broadcasting Corporation STA Request Page 1 of 1 Request for Renewal of Sixty (60) Day Special Temporary Authority Pursuant to Section 25.120(b)(3) of the Federal Communications Commission’s (“FCC”) rules,1 EchoStar Broadcasting Corporation (“EBC”) requests that the FCC renew special temporary authority (“STA”) for another sixty (60) days to operate a 3.7m earth station antenna in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Grant of the STA is in the public interest as it will enable EBC to improve its satellite fleet management by providing additional resiliency of operations. By enabling such resiliency, EBC will be in a better position to manage and maintain its satellite fleet in the event such backup is needed. EBC has a pending application for regular authority for this 3.7m antenna.2 On May 13, 2015, the FCC granted a 60 day STA to operate the 3.7m from June 15, 2015 to August 14, 2015 while the application for regular authority was pending.3 On August 3, 2015, the FCC granted a 60 day extension to the STA from August 15, 2015 to October 14, 2015.4 At this time, the application for regular authority remains pending. Accordingly, EBC requests that the FCC renew the STA so that EBC has authorization to continue to operate. 1 Under Section 25.120(b)(3), the FCC may grant this STA for 60 days without putting the application on public notice because EBC has filed and an application for regular authority for the 3.7m antenna, which is still pending.
