WFMY Television, LLC Request for Special Temporary Authorization Pending FCC File No. IB2015001582 REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORIZATION On behalf of WFMY Television, LLC. (“WFMY”), licensee of broadcast television station WFMY-TV, Greensboro, North Carolina, this is a request for Special Temporary Authorization (STA) for WFMY to utilize a transmit-only satellite earth station while its application for a new, temporary-fixed transmit-only satellite earth station remains, filed with the FCC on August 27, 2015, pending at the FCC (FCC File No. IB2015001582) (the “Pending Application”). WFMY has recently decommissioned and replaced its former ENG truck, upon which a temporary fixed transmit-only satellite earth station (currently licensed as E880835) was installed and operated. Due to the decommissioning of the ENG truck, the associated temporary fixed satellite earth station was also removed and decommissioned, along with other news- gathering equipment. WFMY intends to operate a new transmit-only, temporary fixed satellite earth station, applied for in the Pending Application, with the new ENG truck for continued routine news-gathering operations and transmission of vital, news-worthy video to WFMY’s studio for broadcast to its viewing community. In order to preserve its ability to properly serve its community, WFMY requests temporary authorization to utilize the transmit-only, temporary fixed satellite earth station referenced in the Pending Application and respectfully requests that the FCC grant this STA pending the processing of the Pending Application. Upon grant of the Pending Application, WFMY will cancel existing license E880835.
