                    REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY
                                Call Sign: E150029

DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC (“DIRECTV”) hereby requests Special Temporary
Authority (STA) for up to 30 days to conduct Telemetry Tracking and Control (TTAC)
for the DIRECTV KU-79W satellite (call sign 2861) while it is undergoing in-orbit
testing (IOT) at the 77.5º W.L. orbital location,1 and thereafter during migration to its
licensed position at 103º W.L. (nominal), from its Winchester, VA earth station (call sign
E150029).2 The specific DIRECTV KU-79W TTAC frequencies to be used are 14001
MHz and 14496.5 MHz for telecommand and 11700.75 MHz and 11702.25 MHz for
telemetry. DIRECTV requests that the STA be structured to begin upon arrival of the
satellite at 77.5º W.L. DIRECTV will coordinate with potentially affected satellite
operators in accordance with industry practice, and will operate on a non-interference
basis during this migration.

The requested STA will serve the public interest by ensuring that the DIRECTV
KU-79W satellite is properly controlled during IOT and the subsequent migration to its
licensed orbital location. Accordingly, DIRECTV respectfully requests that the
Commission grant this STA request as expeditiously as possible.

1
DIRECTV has requested temporary authority to conduct IOT of the satellite at 77.5°
W.L. before moving it to its licensed orbital location. See IBFS File No. SAT-STA-
    20150415-00024.
2
An application for this earth station has been submitted that includes all satellites on
the Commission’s Permitted List as points of communication, but that application has
not yet been acted upon. See SES-LIC-20150408-00198.
