12. Description.
Harris Corporation is requesting an extension of previously granted Special Temporary Authority, for a sixty day period beginning 4/27/2013, to operate a 3.8 meter C band earth station in connection with a critical project for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The attached letter from the FAA demonstrates that Harris is the current FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure contractor. This STA is necessary as it will enable the provision of critical flight path information to the FAA. Harris submits that a grant of this application will serve the public interest because it will assist the FAA's mission of ensuring flight safety. Harris has filed a permanent license request for these facilities (see File No. SES-LIC-20130131-00129, attached), however this application remains pending.
