Operations, shall not cause harmful interference to, and shall not claim protection from, interference caused to it by any other lawfully operating station and it shall cease transmission(s) immediately upon notice of such interference. 4. Any action taken or expense incurred as a result of operations pursuant to this STA is solely at Exxon Communications Company‘s risk. 5. PETITION FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY The system for which we are requesting modification is an earth station on the oil platform Hoover—Diana located in the Gulf of Mexico The purpose of this replacement system is to provide safe and effective communications for the personnel working on and around the platform, as well as on passing ships. Recently, the current equipment has been experiencing maintenance problems caused by inadequate filtering, and the number of interference incidents has greatly escalated. There are no cellular or other alternate means of communications in this remote region 160 miles south of Galveston, TX in the Gulf of Mexico. Due to the critical need to ensure the safety of workers in this sensitive area, the replacement equipment is required in a timely manner. We respectfully ask that this petition will be considered, and that we may receive the grant of temporary authority to operate the replacement system.
