| 12. Description.
This application seeks Special Temporary Authority to operate a new satellite news gathering (SNG), Domestic Satellite Temporary−Fixed (Transportable) Earth Station that will be used in conjuction with commercial TV Station WBBH−TV, Fort Myers. There is currently a Hurricane Warning for Fort Myers area. At the time the Hurricane Warning for the Ft. Myers area was issued, the station and its engineering consultants were preparing full technical information for an application to license the station's new SNG facilities, to be filed in the ordinary course in the coming week. The weather emergency, however, has created an urgent need for the SNG facility to be put into use prior to the completion of the license application. Accordingly, immediate grant of the requested STA would serve the public interest by enhancing the station's coverage of the weather emergency for the people of Ft. Myers and the surrounding area.
