12. Description. This application is for a temporary permit to transmit one 18MHz C-Band carrier from a Gigasat FA-240 2.4m transportable earth station, owned and operated by GlobeCast UK. The antenna is licensed and registered for use on Intelsat, Eutelsat and Asiasat satellites and will be located in Newport, RI for the America's Cup World Series, the event is due to take place from June 26th to July 1st. The system will be feeding live coverage of the sailing event back to the UK where it will be distributed over Globecast's international platform. The America's Cup is the oldest and most prestigious sailing event in the world, Newport is the third event of 2012 and promises to showcase the USA as one of the world leaders in international sailing.
