Washington, D.C. 20554 Re: Request for Extension of Special Temporary Authority Paumalu, Hawaii C-band Earth Station KA265 File No. SES-STA-20111230-01509 Dear Ms. Dortch: Intelsat License LLC (“Intelsat”) herein requests a sixty-day extension – through May 7, 2012 – of the Special Temporary Authority (“STA”)1 previously granted Intelsat to use its C-band earth station, KA265, to transmit to the Intelsat 701 satellite at 157.0° E.L.2 Intelsat has a pending application for authority to add this point of communication on a permanent basis.3 Intelsat recently redeployed the Intelsat 701 satellite to 157.0° E.L.4 and seeks to continue utilizing its C-band earth station – call sign KA265 – to transmit to the satellite in the bands 3700-4200 MHz, and 5925-6425 MHz. Intelsat will continue to operate within the coordinated parameters of the earth station’s license. In the extremely unlikely event that harmful interference should occur, Intelsat will take all reasonable steps to eliminate the interference. Grant of this STA extension request will allow Intelsat to continue providing C-band capacity on Intelsat 701 at 157.0° E.L.
