SES-STA-20111101-01290, SES-STA- 20111101-01291, SES-STA-20111101-01292, SES-STA-20111101-01293, SES-STA- 20111101-01294, Call Signs E980127, E080120, E070015, E020306, and E070014 Dear Ms. Dortch: On Tuesday, November 1, 2011, EchoStar Broadcasting Corporation (“EchoStar”) requested Special Temporary Authority (“STA”) for 30 days to operate certain earth stations in connection with the relocation, and continued operation, of the EchoStar 8 satellite from 77.05° W.L. to 76.85° W.L.1 Because the temporary operations may last longer than 30 days, EchoStar respectfully requests that the STA be granted for a period of 60 days as permitted by Section 25.120(b)(3) of the Commission’s rules.2 Please contact the undersigned if you have any questions regarding this filing. 1 Specifically, EchoStar requested STA for: (1) three earth stations (Call Signs E020306, E070014, and E080120) to provide telemetry and tracking functions for the relocation, and continued operation, of EchoStar 8; and (2) two earth stations (Call Signs E980127 and E070015) to transmit command instructions to EchoStar 8 during its relocation to and operations at 76.85° W.L. in the Ku- band using the 14003 MHz frequency channel. 2 47 C.F.R. § 25.120(b)(3).
