                  REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (“Sirius XM”), a satellite digital audio radio service (“SDARS”)

licensee, hereby applies for special temporary authority (“STA”) to commence operations using

a new 3.7 meter C-band antenna at its Vernon, NJ earth station, Call Sign E060276. STA is

sought pending action on the modification application requesting authority for this antenna, File

No. SES-MFS-20100824-01076.1 Grant of the requested STA will serve the public interest by

permitting use of the new antenna to support operations of the recently launched XM-5 satellite.2

Specifically, Sirius XM plans to use the new antenna to communicate with the facilities

in Canada that perform the primary Telemetry, Tracking and Control (“TT&C”) for XM-5 and

the remainder of the XM Radio satellite fleet. The XM-5 in-orbit spare spacecraft was launched

successfully on October 14, and is currently undergoing in-orbit testing (“IOT”) at 80° W.L.3

Following the completion of IOT, the satellite will be drifted to its assigned orbital location,

85.2° W.L. In preparation for deployment of XM-5, Sirius XM seeks to begin using the

3.7 meter antenna to communicate with the TT&C facilities in Canada on November 3, 2010 and

seeks action on the instant STA request to accommodate that schedule.
