Attachment 1 Application for Earth Station Special Temporary Authority EXPEDITED ACTION REQUESTED Journal Broadcast Corporation (“Journal”) respectfully requests expedited special temporary authority (“STA”) to permit the immediate operation of a transmit/receive temporary fixed satellite earth station pursuant to Section 25.120(a) of the Commission’s rules. Journal requests that the STA be granted for a period of 60 days pursuant to Section 25.120(b)(3) of the Commission’s rules. Journal filed an FCC Form 312 application earlier today seeking authority to operate a new transmit/receive temporary fixed satellite earth station (see Submission ID No. IB2010003211). Specifically, that facility will be a news gathering vehicle with a satellite antenna permanently mounted to the truck, which will be used to provide coverage of remote news events, emergencies, and other programming that will benefit the public interest for use by Journal’s television broadcast stations. Grant of the requested STA will permit Journal to initiate operation of the proposed facility as quickly as possible and benefit the public interest.
