Description Intelsat LLC herein requests a grant of Special Temporary Authority for 60 days, starting immediately upon grant, to utilize its new Riverside, California 2.4 m C—band earth station prior to grant of permanent operating authority. The antenna will communicate in the frequency bands 6262—6423 MHz, uplink, and 3700—4200 MHz, downlink, with Intelsat 701 at 180 E.L. Intelsat will very shortly file an application for authority to use this antenna to transmit in these frequencies on a permanent basis.

Re: Request for Special Temporary Authority Riverside, California 2.4 m C—band Earth Station Dear Ms. Dortch: Intelsat LLC ("Intelsat") herein requests a grant of Special Temporary Authority ("STA*")‘ for 60 days, starting immediately upon grant, to utilize its new Riverside, California 2.4 m C—band earth station prior to grant of permanent operating authority. The antenna will communicate in the frequency bands 6262—6423 MHz (uplink) and 3700—4200 MHz (downlink) with Intelsat 701 at 180° E.L. Intelsat will very shortly file an application for — authogity to use this antenna to transmit in these frequencies on a permanent basis. This antenna is part of a global maritime VSAT network. Intelsat plans to use this antenna to act as a "dummy" ship to provide calibration and testing for the network. This testing will provide feedback on network performance. Intelsat seeks expeditious treatment of this STA request because the calibration _ information is critical to the operation of the network, and there are network customers that wish to operate immediately in the Pacific Ocean region served by Intelsat 701. \ —In support ofthis request, Intelsat is attaching detailed technical information (in Exhibits A—D) that demonstrates that the operation of the earth station will be compatible withits electromagnetic environment and will not cause harmful interference into any lawfully operating facility. In the extremely unlikely — event that harmful interference should occur, Intelsat will take all reasonable steps to eliminate the interference." Grant of this STA request will enable Intelsat to ensure the proper operation of the global maritime VSAT network in the Pacific Ocean region.
