12. Description

This license will allow Cisco to perform network infrastructure testing with Intelsat using the
current IS−1R satellite. This testing will be used to validate the network configuration that
will support the IRIS program (IS−14) and the Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD)
with the U.S. Department of Defense scheduled for early in 2010. The goal of this demonstration
is to show the U.S. Department of Defense the benefits of using Internet Protocol (IP) routing in
satellite communications. These benefits include better bandwidth utilization, cross beam
connectivity and multi−protocol support. In order to meet testing milestones, the STA is necessary
prior to permanent license grant of Call Sign E090155.
