June 26, 2009 Federal Communications Commission Satellite Radio Communications The Portals, 445 Twelfth Street NW Washington DC 20554 Alascom, Inc. Special Temporary Authority (STA) Request C—Band Earth Station Alascom, Inc. hereby requests a Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow for temporary operation of a C—band earth station from locations in Anchorage and North Slope, Alaska. This C—Band earth station will be utilized in support of system testing and verification of operation parameters, personnel training for restoration of communications during natural disasters, national emergencies or other disasters that may affect or occur in the State of Alaska. In addition this STA will allow for operations in the event of a disaster during this 60 day time frame . ALSAT satellite are requested since satellite segments will vary during the 60 day period and acquiring satellite segment will be part of the training process. Alascom, Inc. requests operations for a 60 day period beginning on July 2, 2009. This STA is filed in conjunction with the application for a temporary fixed earth station license filed on 6/10/2009%.
