Washington, D.C. 20554 _ $ INTELSAT Re: Request for Special Temporary Authority Ellenwood, Georgia Ku—band Earth Station EO90093 Dear Ms. Dortch: Intelsat North America LLC ("Intelsat") herein requests a grant of Special Temporary Authority ("STA")‘ for 60 days, from June 22, 2009 through August 20, 2009, to utilize its new Ellenwood, Georgia Ku—band earth station prior to grant of permanent operating authority. The antenna will communicate in the frequency bands 11700—12200 MHz and 14000—14500 MHz during the STA period requested herein. Intelsat has a pending application for authority to use this antenna to transmit in these frequencies, among others, on a permanent basis.* Intelsat plans to use this antenna to conduct antenna verification testing with its Galaxy 18 satellite at 123° W.L. This testing is being conducted in preparation _ for the antenna‘s use in an upcoming satellite transition. In support of this request, Intelsat incorporates by reference its pending application forauthonty to use this antenna to transmit in these frequencies on a permanent basis." The application contains detailed technical information (in Exhibits A—D) that demonstrates that the operation of the earth station will be compatible with its electromagnetic environment and will not cause harmful interference into any lawfully operating facility. In the extremely unlikely event that harmful interference should occur, Intelsat will take all reasonable steps to eliminate the interference. .
