June 1, 2009 Ms. Jeanette Spriggs. Federal Communications Division International Bureau Re: SIMS SATELLITE AND DATA CORP. E980146 Request for Special Temporary Authority Dear Ms. Spriggs: Sims Satellite and Data Corp. hereby requests Special Temporary Authority (STA) to operate Earth Station facilities with minor modifications to the specifications of the attached expired license for E980146. The previous licensee (ANDESAT TELEPORT INC.) went out of business and sold their assets to SIMS SATELLITE AND DATA CORP. Since the previous Earth Station authorization has expired, Sims Satellite and Data Corp, is required to go through the frequency coordination and licensing process. Sims Satellite and Data Corp. has an existing customer base who are in urgent need of services and therefore is requesting this STA to begin operations prior to the grant of the regular authorization. The Miami Earth Station will be used to provide Internet Broadband Services to South America via a Satellite Based iDirect Platform. Sims Satellite and Data Corp is in the process of preparing an application for a new Earth Station authorization and will file it as soon as it has frequency coordination has been completed Please contact me if you have any questions.
