REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY Earth Station E050078 SES Americom, Inc. ("SES Americom") hereby requests special temporary authority ("STA") for a period of 30 days to permit earth station E050078 to communicate with the AMC—1 spacecraft in the conventional Ku—band using larger bandwidths and EIRP levels than authorized by the current E050078 license‘. During this time period the earth station will be used to support a Defense Intelligence Agency demonstration. SES Americom seeks temporary authority beginning May 11", the date the demonstration is scheduled to commence. Earth station E050078 is currently authorized to communicate with the permitted space stations list throughout the entire conventional Ku—band using carrier bandwidths of up to 8 MHz. SES Americom is seeking to add a new emission on a temporary basis. The technical specifications of the new emission are listed in Appendix A. The requested STA will support a Defense Intelligence Agency demonstration and is therefore in the public interest. ‘ See FCC File No. SES—LIC—20050321—00332
