Dortch Secretary Federal Communications Commission 445 12" Street, S.W. @ INTELSAT Washington, D.C. 20554 Re: Request for Special Temporary Authority Riverside, California Ka—band Earth Station Dear Ms.‘Dortch: Intelsat LLC ("Intelsat") herein requests a grant of Special Temporary Authority‘ for one week, from May 4, 2009 through May 10, 2009, to utilize a 2.4 meter earth station to conduct a demonstration in Ka—band with Intelsat‘s Galaxy 28 satellite at 89.0° W.L. Specifically, Intelsat intends to communicate with that satellite in the following frequencies: 29.5—30 GHz (uplink) and 19.7— 20.2 GHz (downlink). The earth station will be located at Intelsat‘s Riverside, iittmoiremii California teleport. | Intelsat seeks to conduct the demonstrationis response to a customer request. If the demonstration is successful, Intelsat expects the customer will enter into a contract for Ka—band service. Because the proposed demonstration will assist Intelsat in meeting customer demand for service, grant of this STA request is in the public interest. ‘ In support of this request, Intelsat is attaching detailed technical information that demonstrates that the operation of the earth station will be compatible with its electromagnetic environment and will not cause harmful interference into any lawfully operating facility.
