Exhibit A REqUEST FoR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORIZATIO: Call Signs E060187 and E060188 DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC (‘DIRECTV") hereby requests specialtemporary authorization (*STA") to operate the above referenced Ka—band carth stations for up to sixty (60) days beginning June 16, 2006, while ts license appliations are being processed (see File Nos. SES—LIC—20060524—00884 and —00885). These applications have been accepted for fling. See Rep. No. SES—00824 (May 31, 2006). The requested STAs would serve the public interest by enabling DIRECTV to begin satelte reconfiguration and uplink balancing for both antennas with the SPACEWAY 1 and 2 satllites, further enhancing the development ofinfrastructure used by DIRECTV to retransmit local digita broadeastsignals to its subs "The public interest clearly favors grant ofthis application, and DIRECTV requeststhat it be done as expeditiously as possible.
