12. Description.
VSL has developed a new smaller antenna system which has the capability of being mounted on the roof of a passenger car. Separate antennas are used for transmit and receive. There is an urgent need to supply smaller, lower profile antenna systems which are capable of being mounted on the roof of public safety vehicles and which can transported with the vehicle to support emergency and Homeland Security applications The current testing under the STA will allow VSL to demonstrate that the small antenna system can establish a satellite link in controlled conditions (while is the vehicle is stopped - referred to herein as 'nomadic' operation) as a first step to facilitate 'in-motion' testing which will be accomplished under a future experimental license.
