                                        Request for Renewal of Special Temporary Authority

    Dear Sir or Madam:

           Maritime Telecommunications Network, Inc. (“MTN”), by its attorneys and pursuant to
    Section 25.120 of the Commission’s rules and Mobile Satellite-Based Communications Services
    by Crescomm Transmission Services, inc. and Qualcomm incorporated, Order, 11 FCC Rcd
    10944 (lB and QET 1996), hereby submits an original and two copies ofits Request for Renewal
    of Special Temporary Authority (“STA”) to operate Ku-band satellite earth stations aboard
    vessels (“ESVs”).

           On July 18, 2001, the Commission granted STA authority to MTh to operate from July
    20, 2001 to September 20, 2001. The Commission has subsequently extended the STA on nine
    occasions, most recently for a term ending on June 12, 2005. By this letter application, MTN
    respectfully requests extension ofits STA for an additional 180 days commencing on June 13,
    2005 and ending on December 9, 2005.

              MTN specifically requests authority for the following:

              • Operation ofup to ten ESVs using stabilized 1.2 meter antennas on U.S.-flagged ships;
              and
              • Operation in the 12/14 GHz band with conforming antennas on a non-interference basis
              for all operations at any location on water, including when stationary at piers.

             MTN’s application for permanent authority for use of the 12/14 GHz band is currently
     pending. See FCC File No. SES-LIC-20011130-02259; Call Sign E010332. Grant of the instant
     request will serve the public interest by permitting MTN to continue to make available its service
     while the Commission processes the application for permanent authority. MTN remains

committed to offer its service in a manner consistent with the operations described in the
November 22, 2002 letter from MTN to the FCC, addressed to the attention of Sylvia Tram Tu
Lam, which is a part of the above-referenced file for permanent 12/14 GHz band authority.

        Attached hereto is FCC Form 159, together with a check in the amount of $155.00 for the
