               REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY

Dear Mr. Kotler:

Exxon Communications Company ("Exxon Communications"), pursuant to Section
25.120(b)(3) of the Rules and Regulations of the Federal Communications Commission
("Commission"), respectfully requests Special Temporary Authority ("STA") while its
underlying application for a Minor Amendment to its regular authority is pending before the
Commission (SES—MOD—20040921—01402). Exxon Communications seeks STA to change its
Point of Communication from AMC—9 to AMC—3; no technical changes are requested.

Exxon Communications is a wholly—owned subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation
("ExxonMobil"). ExxonMobil is an integrated petroleum company engaged in the exploration
and production of oil, and the manufacturing and marketing of fuels, lubes and chemicals.

Exxon Communications‘ satellite earth station E000001 provides transmit/receive data
and voice transmission from the on—shore ExxonMobil facilities in New Orleans, Louisiana to
ExxonMobil‘s Hoover Diana Platform in the Gulf of Mexico. These satellite communications
provide the ideal type of communication circuits required to provide the high quality
communications network necessary to serve ExxonMobil‘s oil exploration and productlon
operations in the Gulf.

Earth station E000001 is currently authorized to communicate with AMC—9. Exxon
Communications‘ vendoris relocating its satellite from AMC—9 to a new orbital slot. Exxon
Communications has determined it will obtain service from a new satellite vendor — SkyPort.
The earth station onboard the offshore platform will now communicate with AMC—3.
Accordingly, Exxon Communications submitted the above—captioned Notification of Minor
Amendment to the FCC via the International Bureau Filing System on September 21, 2004 to
reflect the change to the Point of Communication.
