41. Application Description
Application for Blanket Registration for a C-band receive-only Earth station network used by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Weather Service (NWS) in support of the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), which plays a critical role in advanced weather warnings for the protection of life and property. Global Eagle, the applicant, is a subcontractor to Raytheon, the prime contractor for AWIPS. This application is consistent with the procedures adopted in the FCC's Public Notices issued April 19, 2018, DA 18-398, Temporary Freeze on Applications for New or Modified Fixed Satellite Earth Stations and Fixed Microwave Stations in the 3.7-4.2 GHz Band; 90-Day Window to File Applications for Earth Stations Currently Operating in 3.7-4.2 GHz Band, and June 21, 2018, DA 18-640, International Bureau Announces 90-Day Extension of Filing Window, to October 17, 2018, to File Applications for Earth Stations Currently Operating in 3.7-4.2 GHz Band; Filing Options for Operators with Multiple Earth Station Antennas.
