Iridium Carrier Services LLC, File No. SES-MOD-20170413-00389

    Dear Ms. Dortch:

Iridium Satellite LLC and Iridium Carrier Services LLC (collectively, “Iridium”)
previously filed the above-referenced applications seeking blanket license modifications
that would add authority for next generation maritime mobile earth stations, land
mobile earth stations, aeronautical mobile earth stations, and AMS(R)S earth stations.1
Iridium hereby clarifies one aspect of the applications.

The maximum EIRP density per carrier values (dBW/4kHz) provided in field
E49 of Form 312, Schedule B of the applications were calculated by dividing each
maximum EIRP per carrier entry (field E48) by the occupied bandwidth of the carrier
and converting the result to a per 4 kHz EIRP density. The occupied bandwidth,2 which
is related to spectral occupancy, is typically smaller than the necessary bandwidth,3

1 As stated in the narrative that was submitted, two substantively-identical applications were
filed, one of which seeks to modify the blanket license held by Iridium Satellite LLC and the
other of which seeks to modify the blanket license held by Iridium Carrier Services LLC.
2 Occupied bandwidth is defined in provision 1.153 of the ITU Radio Regulations.
3 Necessary bandwidth is defined in provision 1.152 of the ITU Radio Regulations.

which is related to performance and is used in the bandwidth portion of the emission
designator.4

For each emission designator included in field E47 of Form 312, Schedule B, the
table below provides the maximum EIRP per carrier, the occupied bandwidth, and the
maximum EIRP density per carrier expressed in dBW/4kHz.
