Inmarsat presented an overview ofthe company, ts current satelite constelltion, and ts recent Inmarsatsatelite,which willbeready to provide service over North America in the next few months. In the context of this discussion, Mr. Sukawaty explained the benefits that Inmarsat‘s new Broadband Global Arca Network (BGAN) service would have for users in the United States, and urged that the pending applications for authority to provide BGAN service be approved expeditiously. He noted that the issues that had been raised by MSV relating to disputed spectrum in the L Band were not germane to te pending license applications, and should be addressed separately.
