Submarine Cable Landing License Request for STA Page 1 of 1 BellSouth Long Distance, Inc. Request for Special Temporary Authority BellSouth Long Distance, Inc. (“BSLD”), an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T Inc. (“AT&T”), hereby requests Special Temporary Authority (“STA”) to assign its interest in the MAYA-1 submarine cable to Sprint Communications Company LP (“Sprint”), SCL-LIC- 19990325-00006. AT&T recently learned that BSLD transferred its interest in the MAYA-1 cable system to Sprint in August 2006 without obtaining Commission authority. BSLD no longer provides any service pursuant to that authorization and no longer holds any interest in the MAYA-1 cable system. It is requesting this STA to assign its interest in the MAYA-1 cable landing license in order to regularize the current status of the cable license pending Commission action on applications to assign the cable landing license and the associated international Section 214 authorization, ITC-214-19990325-00153,1 to Sprint.2 Respectfully Submitted, /s/ Mary Jo Peed Mary Jo Peed VP, General Counsel, and Secretary 675 W. A notification of the assignment to BSLD of an interest in this authorization was filed in April of 2006. See IBFS File No. ITC-ASG-20060412-00246 (granted April 19, 2006). 2 This STA application specifically seeks authority to assign the submarine cable landing license associated with the MAYA-1 submarine cable. A separate STA application is being filed to cease providing service under the international Section 214 authorization and to assign that authorization to Sprint.
