                                     EXHIBIT 1
                     REQUEST FOR SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY

DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC (“DIRECTV”) respectfully requests an extension of its grant

of space station special temporary authority (“STA”)1 for an additional 30 days to drift

DIRECTV’s recently launched T16 satellite (Call Sign S3039) from its in-orbit testing (“IOT”)

location of 134.75° W.L. to its permanent authorized location of 100.85° W.L. Pursuant to

Section 1.62 of the Commission’s rules,2 DIRECTV will continue to operate pursuant to the

terms and conditions of its existing STA pending action on this timely filed renewal request.

On May 29, 2019, the Commission granted DIRECTV’s 30-day STA request to conduct

IOT of T16 at 134.75° W.L. and to drift the satellite to its permanent authorized location of

100.85° W.L.3 The IOT period commenced on July 1, 20194 and was completed on July 22,

2019. The drift to 100.85° W.L. commenced on July 23, 2019 and is expected to be completed

on or about September 4, 2019.5 Accordingly, DIRECTV respectfully requests an extension of

its current STA for an additional 30 days to continue drifting T16 to its permanent authorized

orbital location.6

During the drift from 134.75° W.L. to 100.85° W.L., only the satellite’s TT&C frequencies will
be utilized.
6
DIRECTV intends to file additional STA extension requests to cover any drift that exceeds this
30-day period.

                                                 1

Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (“TT&C”) services for T16 will be performed using

the following center frequencies:

    12697 MHz and 12698 MHz (space-to-Earth); and

    17789 MHz and 17791 MHz (Earth-to-space).

Grant of this space station STA request is in the public interest because it will facilitate

the relocation of T16 from its IOT location to its permanent authorized orbital location.

Accordingly, DIRECTV respectfully requests that the Commission grant this request.
